MAXMUX Multiplexing System

The Utah Scientific MAXMUX Multiplexing System allows users to combine discrete 3G or 1.5G signals into one uncompressed 12G or 6G data stream for more cost-effective transport. Users can combine up to 80 3G signals into one compact unit of just 2RU. By combining multiple signals onto a single fiber, MAXMUX significantly reduces the amount of cable/fiber resources needed, which means substantial cost savings. Increased signal density also simplifies setup and management, saving time and resources.

MAXMUX is ideally suited for fiber applications, increasing the maximum number of 3G/1.5G channels over CWDM from 18 to 72. This allows users to quadruple their utilization of previously existing fiber networks and make better use of the advantages that come with fiber optic speed and efficiency.

MAXMUX transmits signals without compression, ensuring pristine quality for critical applications. The MAXMUX supports standard resolutions of 12G, 3G, HD, or 720p video signals, with refresh rates of 23.98Hz to 60Hz.

Because this system is input/output agnostic, the MAXMUX can be used with any standard input or output device. This system empowers professionals in broadcast, AV integration, and content delivery to optimize signal transport, reduce costs, and simplify complex routing scenarios.

• Combine up to 4 discrete 3G signals into one 12G stream
• Can be used as a standard UHD Quad Link converter for 12G-3G and 3G-12G conversion
• Uses existing SDI or fiber network for simplified installations
• Supports standard resolutions of 12G, 3G, HD, 720p
• Refresh rates of 23.98Hz to 60Hz
• Up to 80 discrete 3G/1.5G signals per chassis

Each MAXMUX frame houses up to 10 input/output cards. These cards receive two sets of four video signals (either 3G or 1.5G) and converts each set of four into one signal (12G or 6G, respectively) for a total of two. Those two signals are then passed to the rear output panel. Once converted, these singlelink signals can be transported over fiber or 12G coax cable.
These signals, once received, are disassembled back into their 3G/1.5G parts and distributed as needed. A MAXMUX system at the receiving end can easily disassemble these single-link signals and redistribute them to any standard router or receiver. In this way, the MAXMUX Multiplexing System can be used as a standard UHD Quad Link converter for 12G-3G and 3G-12G conversion.

The MAXMUX supports standard resolutions of 12G, 3G, HD, or 720p video signals, with refresh rates of 23.98Hz to 60Hz. Because this system is input/output agnostic, the MAXMUX can be used with any standard input or output device. MAXMUX is also ideally suited for fiber applications, increasing the maximum number of 3G/1.5G channels over CWDM from 18 to 72. Reduced fiber optic cable requirements and efficient bandwidth utilization lead to significant cost savings.

What Our Customers Have To Say About Us

“As a well-known provider of dependable, worry-free routers with the world’s best warranty, Utah Scientific was an easy choice to supply the routers for this value-added solution.”
– Peter Schut, Senior Vice President, Media Infrastructure, EVS
“Based on our ongoing and successful partnership with Utah Scientific, we already have firsthand experience with the company’s engineering excellence, product reliability, and first-rate service and support.”
– Todd Mason, Founder and CEO, BMG (Broadcast Media Group)
“Utah Scientific has outstanding brand recognition in the studio and mobile broadcast markets and a stellar reputation for reliability, longevity, and customer service.”
– Michel Suissa, Managing Director of Professional Solutions, The Studio-B&H
“The new Utah Scientific system has made a huge difference in our production capabilities, allowing us to handle five times the programming output of the old facility.”
– David Finer, Manager, City Channel Pittsburgh
“The first and most important element in our decision to renew with Utah Scientific was our current router's dependability. It ran 24/7, 365 for nine years, with no failures: whether power supply failures or control failures. There was never a need to reboot the router.”
– Craig Jutson, City of San José
“The UTAH-400 was a great choice for the upgrade. Not only does the router come with Utah Scientific’s no-fee, 10-year warranty — unheard of in the broadcast industry — but it’s based on a unique hybrid signal architecture that offers a single platform for all types of signals, including those used in IP networks.”
– Chuck Heffner, Digital Video Group
